Pinocchio adds a tiny face to the news articles you read. His aura shows political leaning, his smile shows sentiment and his nose can't hide when it's lying.

Three simple steps to start seeing through the spin
Add Pinocchio to Chrome, pin it to your toolbar, and browse the news like you normally do. We only light up on actual article pages.
The extension detects articles, analyzes the text, and returns three scores: bias, truthiness, and sentiment in seconds.
Click the icon to see detailed scores and a quick explanation. Spot the framing before you're pulled into it.
Every article gets evaluated across three critical axes
We estimate where the article sits on a left โ right spectrum using outlet history, language patterns and heurisic algorithms. The face shifts from blue to purple to red.
No more Fake News. We check for evidence, sources and nuance. Short nose means objectively true and well sourced; long nose means speculation or outright lies.
Is this piece trying to make you furious, hopeless, or triumphant? We analyze sentiment, tone, and context so you can tell whether you're reading information or emotional fuel.
Pinocchio doesn't tell you what to think โ it just makes it harder for the people who try to. You are the one who decides how your time and emotional energy is spent.
"We live in an age where information is abundant but context is scarce. Pinocchio helps me see not just what's being said, but how it's being said and by whom. That makes a big difference."

Everything you need to know about Pinocchio
Pinocchio is a lens, not a Ministry of Truth. The default heuristics give you a quick directional signal. LLM-powered analysis provides deeper, more nuanced scoring with explanations โ but it's still a tool to inform your own judgment, not replace it. If we get something wrong, please let us know and we'll use that to make it better.
Today we're focused on long-form article pages from major news domains. The extension automatically detects article content and won't activate on homepages, social media, or non-article pages. Our roadmap includes support for more sites and more content types.
No. Never. Absolutely not. Your API keys (if you use LLM mode) stay in your browser, are encrypted through your own environment variables and are NEVER sent to our servers. We don't know (or care) what you read, we don't show ads and we don't sell your data.
Pinocchio is open about what it is: a pattern-matching tool that highlights structural characteristics of articles. It's not claiming to be the arbiter of truth. It will help you be more aware of framing before diving into something that might otherwise mislead you, inflame your emotions or waste your time. Use it for what it is and bring your own critical thinking to the table.
We support OpenAI, Claude (Anthropic), Grok (xAI), DeepSeek, and local Llama models. Just paste your API key in the settings, and we'll use it to score articles. Your key is stored locally and never leaves your browser.
Install the extension, open your favorite news site, and watch the faces appear. You'll spot framing before you're pulled into it.
